The
Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre (TGDLC) has launched its eLearning
Centre at a colorful ceremony held in Dar Es Salaam. The
Permanent Secretary President’s Office, Public Service Management,
Mr. George Yambesi, who doubles as the Chairman of the TGDLC Board of
Directors graced the event which attracted 60 distinguished guests.
The
eLearning Centre, the first of its kind in the East African region, shall
provide a forum for Tanzanians from all walks of life to access the learning
content from anywhere, anytime across the world.
“I
believe this tool has come at a right time when the majority of Tanzanians
access learning materials from the internet”, said Mr. Yambesi.
The
CEO of Gatlin International Ms Gillian Duncan also echoed the Permanent
Secretary’s words adding that that the world has gone digital and
Tanzanians cannot be exclusive.
“We are living in a fast moving world, a world in which you either
compete or perish. You are therefore compelled to make use of this facility
to cope with this moving world,” she added.
Mr.
Charles Senkondo, the ED of TGDLC assured the guests who attended the
ceremony that the eLearning Centre will provide a variety of courses ranging
from Business, ICT, Law, Environment, Health to mention but a few. The
event was attended by top government officials from ministries, departments
and agencies. Private and Non Governmental top officials were also present.
The AADLC was presented by Ms. Njambi Muchane, The Director of Kenya Development
Learning Centre (KDLC).
