Book launched by Videoconference
The Word Bank Institute (WBI),
in collaboration with the Global Development Learning Centres, has
launched a worldwide consultation on its new report “Building
Knowledge Economy – Advanced Strategies for Development”.
The event linked experts and stakeholders from Kenya, Tanzania,
Senegal, South Africa, Ireland, Denmark, Washington and Paris whose
role was to give input and views on the report. |
The videoconference took place on the
23rd of October,). Tanzania was linked through the Distance Learning Centre
(TGDLC), at the Tanzania Institute of Finance Management in Dar es Salaam.
“Building Knowledge Economies”, which is primarily intended
for the policy-making community of developing countries, deals with advanced
development strategies that focus on policies to address intangibles:
education, innovation, information and communication technology, and the
prerequisite economic and institutional regime. The book aims to give
concrete tools, together with many illustrative examples at different
levels of development, on how all countries can and should think their
future in knowledge economy terms. The book launch engaged policy makers,
academicians, decision makers, business officials and executives in a
dialogue across continents through technology-enabled dialogue using videoconferencing
at TGDLC.
